Age of Daemons
The chaotic and adaptable nature of humans is nearly unchangeable. Even with the cataclysm, humans are going to be humans. The destruction and poisoning of the land caused all the former kingdoms and states to crumble, leaving survivors to scratch whatever existence they could find from the ruins. Generations were cursed to live in the half life of the radiation. Roving gangs formed, preying on the weak and forming primitive societies where only strength matters. Those who could not conquer or hide were forced to live as slaves or die. There was only so much raiding that could be done and after a while an uneasy peace came. In time, small settlements formed. The barbaric chaos seemed to be ending, with small councils forming to begin setting rules of law. And then, Regar came.
Regar's attacks against the settlements were swift. His armies grew as word of his glory and victories spread. The human settlements feared for their newfound societies, Regar's demands were to follow his banner and support his armies or be destroyed. Eventually he would conquer all the major settlements and bring a form of peace to them. With his plunder flowing into them, a couple of these expanded into the first cities. Regar dubbed himself King Regar and has set up a court in Asgorth. He has sought to legitimize his claim by seeking to establish a civilization like before the cataclysm, but forged in his image. His son, Prince Asga, is being groomed to take the throne.
The other races watch them and wonder if King Regar's armies will be turned against them next. With his troops moving and shifting around his new kingdom even the general populace is unsure if an invasion is planned. The arrogance of man has returned.
